Baseball season always makes me want to watch Calvin Marshall again.

Baseball season means it's Calvin Marshall season in this house. If you haven't watched it yet β€” it's not really a baseball movie, it's a movie about what it costs to want something. @jeremysumpterofficially is electric in this. Watch it on joma.film 🎬

CTA: Watch on joma.film β€” link in bio.

@jeremysumpterofficially@lunchpails
#indiefilm#calvinmarshall#baseballseason
Asset: 60-second Reel: open with the tryouts montage, cut to Sumpter's Caselli scenes. End frame: Calvin Marshall title card + 'Watch on joma.film'. This mirrors the Apr 11 Reel structure that drove 6 follows β€” reuse that cut if it's accessible in R2.

A month into festival season and I'm still thinking about half the films we saw at Ashland.

A month into festival season and I'm still thinking about half the films we saw at Ashland. There's something about watching an indie in a room full of people who chose to be there β€” it never gets old. If you're catching anything good this spring, tell me what you're watching.

CTA: (none)

Asset: Use a candid from AIFF April 24 β€” audience or lobby shot, not a posed poster photo. The Apr 24 'we're loving seeing so many great films at AIFF' post was your best FB post of the entire 4-month window (2,424 reach, 126 clicks) β€” this is the direct follow-on in that series.

Lisa Edelstein plays the best character in Phoenix, Oregon and nobody talks about it.

House MD fans β€” @lisaedelstein is in Phoenix, Oregon, a small Oregon indie you've probably never heard of. She plays Tanya, and her scenes with James LeGros are what this film is about. It's on joma.film. 🎬 Watch it.

CTA: Watch on joma.film β€” link in bio.

@lisaedelstein@lunchpails
#phoenixoregon#indiefilm#housemd
Asset: 60-second Reel: feature Tanya's scenes β€” specifically the diner or face-to-face moments with Bobby (James LeGros). Show her warmth and the dynamic between them. Don't use a scene that gives away the ending. House MD fans will respond to seeing her in something personal and small-scale.

If you know Jesse Borrego from Blood In Blood Out β€” you need to see him in this Oregon indie.

If you know @jesseborregoofficial from Blood In Blood Out β€” you need to see him in Phoenix, Oregon. He plays Carlos, a chef trying to keep a struggling restaurant alive, and it's a completely different side of him. Streaming on joma.film.

CTA: Watch on joma.film β€” link in bio.

@jesseborregoofficial@lunchpails
#phoenixoregon#indiefilm#bloodinbloodout
Asset: 60-second Reel: open on Carlos in the restaurant kitchen β€” the most character-revealing scene you have. A moment where he's cooking and talking about what the place means to him, if there is one. The Blood In Blood Out fanbase responds to intensity and authenticity β€” show him being real, not just scenic.

We went live with joma.film v2 yesterday. It looks the same from the outside.

Yesterday we migrated six years of joma.film to a completely rebuilt version. 1,596 accounts, 518 organizations, 1,376 transactions β€” all moved to the cent. Gary doesn't know what any of that means. I wasn't sure I did either until it worked. Quietly huge day in this house.

CTA: (none)

Asset: A photo of you at your desk β€” laptop open, maybe coffee. Or you and Gary in the same room: he's editing Pelican, you're on the laptop. The 'two people doing entirely different things in the same room' framing would work well here. Soft home light. Nothing staged.

You watch her every day on General Hospital. Did you know she was in an Oregon indie?

You've probably seen @watros.watros every day this year if you watch General Hospital. What you might not know: she played Karen in Calvin Marshall β€” a small indie about a college baseball player trying to make it. It's on joma.film. Different energy entirely.

CTA: Watch on joma.film β€” link in bio.

@watros.watros@jeremysumpterofficially@lunchpails
#calvinmarshall#generalhospital#indiefilm
Asset: 60-second Reel: open on Karen's scenes β€” specifically moments that show her warmth or her dynamic with Calvin or the team. Daytime TV fans respond to warmth and character moments over action. If there's a scene where Karen is coaching or encouraging Calvin, lead there.

Tom Skerritt. Quiet Oregon indie. Probably not on your radar.

Tom Skerritt in a quiet Oregon film is probably not on your radar. @therealtomskerritt plays Pete in Redwood Highway β€” an indie about a woman who decides to walk 77 miles across Oregon at 80. Still one of the most genuinely moving films we've made. Watch on joma.film.

CTA: Watch on joma.film β€” link in bio.

@therealtomskerritt@lunchpails
#redwoodhighway#tomskerritt#indiefilm
Asset: 60-second Reel: use scenes where Skerritt's Pete appears alongside the lead β€” quiet relationship moments, not action. The film is about walking and waiting and small conversations. Find a scene that communicates that stillness. Do NOT build this Reel around Marie (Shirley Knight, deceased) β€” it should be anchored to Pete.

joma.film is not a streaming service. Here's what it actually is.

iTunes doesn't decide which albums get made. joma.film doesn't decide which films get seen. Any filmmaker can list their film. We take 10%, they keep 90%. Curation happens through lists β€” not gatekeeping. This is what open looks like in a closed industry.

CTA: DM us 'JOMA' if you're a filmmaker who wants in.

#indiefilm#filmmakers#jomafilm
Asset: 4-slide carousel. Slide 1: 'Not a streaming service.' (large type, dark bg). Slide 2: 'Open marketplace β€” any film can list.' Slide 3: '10% platform fee. 90% to the filmmaker.' Slide 4: 'Lists do the curation. Not us.' Use brand template from /home/buggy/promo/insta-9x16.html. Export 1080Γ—1350.

Sunday is for the watchlist I've been ignoring since February.

Sunday ritual: start a watchlist with 12 films, watch 2, feel personally betrayed by the concept of time. Currently catching up on everything I missed during the joma.film v2 push. What are you watching this weekend?

CTA: (none)

Asset: A cozy Sunday photo β€” phone, remote, coffee, couch. Not staged, not a film poster wall. Something that reads like a real Sunday at home. The question at the end ('What are you watching?') is intentional β€” drives comments, which lifts the post in the FB algorithm.

Steve Zahn's 6-second moment in Calvin Marshall that still wrecks me

Coach Little doesn't say much. He doesn't have to. Steve Zahn turned a one-line scene into the emotional spine of an entire indie film β€” and 16 years later it's still the cut I show people when they ask why we keep making movies in Oregon. Calvin Marshall is on @joma.film now. Watch the whole thing in one sitting and tell me you're not crying by minute 78. πŸͺ¦βšΎοΈ

CTA: Stream Calvin Marshall on joma.film β€” link in bio.

@stevezahn@jeremysumpterofficially@watros.watros
#indiefilm#calvinmarshall#stevezahn#jomafilm#filmsofinstagram#supportindiefilm
Asset: Reel cut: 8-12s of Steve Zahn's bench-talk scene from Calvin Marshall + 2s title card with joma.film URL. Use the existing master from R2; keep aspect 9:16. Add subtle muted-grain LUT to match @ennalu reel aesthetic.

Filmmakers keep 90Β’ of every dollar on joma.film. Here's the math.

Slide 1 β€” Most streamers pay creators 30Β’ on the dollar. After agg fees, marketing recoupment, and platform cuts, it can drop under 20Β’. Slide 2 β€” joma.film flips it. Filmmakers set their price. We take 10%. They keep 90%. Slide 3 β€” Why that matters for indies who self-finance. (One Calvin Marshall sale on joma = ~9 streams elsewhere.) Slide 4 β€” We're building the Bandcamp of film. From inside the indie world, by people who've shipped 7 features. Slide 5 β€” joma.film. Filmmakers first. Always.

CTA: If you're a filmmaker β€” DM us 'JOMA' for an invite.

#filmmakers#indiefilm#filmtwitter#directlyfromartists#supportindiefilm#jomafilm
Asset: Carousel of 5 slides. Reuse the brand template from /home/buggy/promo/insta-9x16.html β€” black bg, off-white serif headline, mono body. Slide 2 should have a big '90Β’' typographic moment. Export as 1080x1350.

Saturday morning. Coffee. 14 deploys to staging. Welcome to the indie-film-platform life.

People assume building a film platform is glamorous. It's mostly this: a kitchen table, a laptop, a half-finished cortado, and 14 commits before noon to fix a checkout-page rounding bug nobody saw but me. We're 6 months out from launching the public version of joma.film. Gary's editing PELICAN in the next room. The dog is asleep on my feet. This is the work. If you're building anything weird and stubborn right now β€” I see you. Keep shipping. The film world will catch up.

CTA: Follow along β€” we're shipping in public.

#buildinpublic#indiefilm#founders#filmtech#jomafilm
Asset: Single photo: laptop + coffee + handwritten notebook on a wood table. Soft morning window light. Annie has a stash from the last few weekends β€” pick one with the joma.film terminal visible if possible (but blur any secrets in the env file).
